Gujranwala plastic bags ban to go into effect starting September 15

Gujranwala: The district administration has announced its decision to impose a complete ban on the use of polythene bags in Gujranwala from September 15 onwards, a news source reported. As per officials, the shopkeepers and traders found violating the bag will face legal charges.

ReadCDA to improve garbage-collection system

As per reports, the continual use of plastic bags in all shops and markets of Gujranwala has choked the city’s sewerage system. To prevent similar instances in the future, the district administration has also launched a public awareness campaign about the negative impact of plastic on the environment.

ReadConsultant hired to prepare RRR feasibility study

As part of the initiative, the local leadership of the incumbent government visited the markets and advocated the usage of cloth bags instead of polythene bags. According to reports, so far, the campaign has failed to achieve the desired results as people continue to use the shopping bags.
